Gamification of Physical Therapy
Monstas System
Research + Product Design + Game Design
The Monstas Systems is aimed at children with Juvenile Arthritis. It consists of 3 handheld toys and a digital game that takes children through their daily physical therapy routines in a fun and engaging manner.
Involvement
Monstas is a personal project close to my heart. It spanned 2 years, from initial research, concept, prototyping and testing with children with Juvenile Arthritis.
Team
This is a self led project. I was lucky enough to received help during my research and testing from the Juvenile Arthritis Association and the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles, which has the largest rheumatology department in the United States.
Status
Proof of concept complete. I am currently searching for funding to bring the project into a randomized control trial with the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles.
Games that make you stronger
Each tool helps children gain strength in the most affected set of joints of the hand and each game helps with range of motion.
